Mountaineers of Iceland is a DMC, Destination Management Company, operating adventure tours since 1996, specializing in Super Jeeps and snowmobiles, mainly in the south western part of Iceland.
Mountaineers own and operate super trucks which have been specially modified to get to a glacier and other remote areas by the rugged mountain tracks of the highlands, inaccessible by normal cars. Careful planning, flexibility and safety are our priorities.

Volcanic eruption in Iceland
The media are making it sound like Iceland is exploding any day!
BUT; Iceland is not blowing up, this eruption is very local in the island. We have an eruption in Iceland every 4-5 years so this is business as usual for us and there is no panic in the island, just around in the world.
Icelanders are resilient people who have learned to live in harmony with the forces of nature.
Daily life in Iceland goes on as usual as the immediate effects of the eruption remain for the most part localized - limited to an area in the south of Iceland. Businesses, public services, and public transportations have remained open and all infrastructures, such as electricity and communications networks, remain secure.
